Our Mission

Ensure thriving, connected human and natural communities through land conservation.

Land Use & Conservation

The Hinesburg Land Trust is a non-profit, all volunteer community organization, founded by local citizens interested in land planning and conservation issues. HLT has helped conserve more than 4,500 acres of agricultural, natural and heritage land in Hinesburg.

HLT works in partnership with town officials, organizations, and residents to help achieve Vermont’s Community Resilience and Biodiversity Protection Act goal to permanently conserve 30% of all land in Vermont by 2030 and 50% of all land in Vermont by 2050.

Public Access

Many of the parcels conserved by HLT are accessible to the public, and feature many walking and skiing trails. These beautiful, preserved areas are managed not only for traditional uses of hunting and fishing but have also provided the setting for bird, wildflower, and tree-identification walks hosted by HLT.

Thriving Communities

HLT will continue to work in partnership with the Town to explore and implement the tools we need to use to address community needs for housing, health, economic vitality, and environmental stewardship in the years ahead.
